RIOPAR DÍA 1

Todos los pasajeros a bordo y con sus equipajes en el autobús, salimos a las 8,15h. El viaje era largo por lo que alguno se mareó un poquito. Hicimos una parada para que nos diese el aire, estirar las piernas y tomar algo . Aún nos quedaba la mitad del camino y comenzó a hacerse más y más común la pregunta:¿Cuánto queda?

Por fin, tras una carretera serpenteada y con un asfalto afectado vislumbramos la entrada del campamento

Todos deseando ser acoplados, las chicas lo son en una larga cabaña con literas por un lado e igualmente los chicos por otro. Desde el minuto uno todo lo que se oye es en inglés; ¡hasta la perrita Fura (a la que pediremos amablemente que nos deje sacarnos una foto con ella) ladra en inglés!

¡Vaya, si llegamos justo a la hora de la comida! Todos lo agradecimos pues ya teníamos hambre.

Después un descansito para preparar las mentes para el test de nivel. También actividades y …bueno,mañana os seguiremos contando . Lo importante es que todos estamos bien.

CULTURE IN A BOX

Last week we received a box from Salusbury Primary School in

London full of typical English objects.

The outside was elaborated by the British students and it has

some pictures of the English flag, the London Eye, the

Parliament or the English Royal Family.

In the inside it contains a telephone box, the Big Ben, a

typical black British taxi, the Union Jack flag, The Times

newspaper, the map of the London tube, some English

postcards, British pounds notes, English music and the theatre

play “Macbeth” by Shakespeare.

Together with all this, we received a brief explanation of each

item thanks to which we could understand when they are used,

why and how.

By means of the activity “Culture in a Box” we have been able

to compile Spanish culture in our twelve items and at the same

time we have learned British way of life in a better way.

CULTURE IN A BOX

This month our Primary children are developing a new activity: “Culture in a Box” together with Salusbury Primary School in London.

The idea is that children from both centers send each other a box containing twelve objects representative of their countries together with a brief explanation of each one. In this way, they will learn many aspects related to the way of life in their partner’s country.

Thus, pupils have brought to school typical Spanish objects as the ones you can see in the pictures. Then, we have chosen twelve, have added a description explaining its name, when we use it and how. Finally, we have sent it to our partner’s school in London.

We just have to wait for the box we will receive full of typically 

English objects! What things do you think it could contain?

SAINT PATRICK´S DAY

Last Monday, on March 17, we celebrated Saint Patrick’s Day at school. We learned that this is Ireland’s patron because Saint Patrick spread his religion over the country using a shamrock.

The Celtic story of the Leprechaun with a hidden pot of gold at the end of a rainbow is typical of this day too. For this reason, we had a display with our Leprechaun, a rainbow and even a pot of gold! Everyday we have to look for the four leaved shamrock if we want to be lucky. Can you find it in this picture?

We also celebrated a festival on this day where Infants and Primary 1, 2 and 3 children saw a puppets show about Saint Patrick’s Day Leprechaun. Then, Primary 1 and 2 sang songs, Primary 3 and 4 danced some Irish dances and Primary 5 and 6 said some Saint Patrick’s poems.

Finally, Primary 1 and 2 ate green jelly, Primary 3 and 4 made a treasure hunt looking for clues around the school and our older children joined around a map of Ireland in order to talk about some Irish writers, landscapes, legends, films, music ...

And two days later we connected through Skype with an Irish school and our Primary 5 and 6 children were talking with the Irish pupils about the festival.

We had a very nice day!
